By the time Louie DiPlacido was 10 years
old, he was helping to build and manage a small farm
on a 10-acre parcel of land his father had purchased
at the edge of town. Clearing timber and harvesting the
crop, as well as building two homes on the property,
was done without the benefit of power tools commonly
used today. Although skeptical of his father's frequent
assertions that "work is fun," Louie eventually realized
that the
work
ethic his father lived by was indeed a most valid and
rewarding lifestyle.
Even though pursuing a career in auto mechanics
in a high school vocational course, Louie applied for
a year of Bible training. He was accepted as a student
of the Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY in
1949 upon graduating from High School. Louie enjoyed
the studies in the scriptures at the Seminary so well
that he returned each year until he earned his Bachelor
of Theology degree.
Lacking experience as a pastor, Louie was
unable to enlist as a Navy chaplain. After preparing
and being approved for ordination, he spent a full year
candidating in several states at various churches that
were seeking a pastor. Louie then accepted a call to
the Calvary Baptist Church of Moffett Heights, Ohio,
12 miles west of Canton Ohio.
In 1966, Louie resigned as the pastor of
Calvary Baptist Church. During his ministry, the church
had completed construction of a new building
there and witnessed God building the congregation up
to a fully self-supporting work with an aggressive missionary
vision and program.
Seeking the Lord's leading and a new challenge
in another field, he accepted a unanimous call to pastor
the Faith Baptist Church of Wheaton, MD in March of
1966. He soon launched the "Word of Truth" broadcast
on a daily basis on Station WFAX, Falls Church, VA. This
ministry reached the entire Washington, DC area with
a sound Bible teaching ministry. Pastor Louie DiPlacido
continues to serve in these ministries today.
